Slack

Read our Slack channel reference and ensure you are added to all appropriate channels.

In the GitHub Slack integration, check the box for “Enable real-time alerts for pull requests”. This will give you notifications when assigned to a PR or when someone replies to your comment, and is necessary for our GH Action PR workflow.

Calendar

Read our engineering meeting reference and ensure you are added to all appropriate engineering meetings.

Add the calendar for engineering@innovation.nj.gov.

Optional tools and add-ons:

• In Outlook, disable the setting that adds a Teams meeting by default to a calendar invite by unchecking the “Add online meeting to all meetings” checkbox
• Install the Outlook Calendar extension (not available to multi-channel Slack guests)
• Set your default calendar events to end a 5-10 minutes early and give space between meetings
• If you’re comfortable, grant visibility to event titles on your calendar. Follow “Change calendar sharing permissions”, and change the “People in my organization” setting to “Can view titles and locations”. You can still mark specific events as private.

Most of these should happen by default when you are onboarded. If not, create a tech ops ticket to request access to the following necessary tools. Use the list below to ensure you have access to the appropriate tools and teams for your initiative (ResX or BizX).

Google Drive

Ensure you are added with write permissions to shared drives:

• ResX drive
• BizX drive
• Discipline resources
• Any project-specific drive folders

GitHub

Ensure you are added to our teams:

• innovation-engineering
• operations-request
• any project-specific teams (all teams here)

Ensure you are in your initative team:

• ResX: innovation-engineering-resx
• BizX: business-dev

AWS

Ensure you are in the AWS account(s) for your initiative:

• ResX: Innov-RES-Dev and Innov-RES-Sandbox account
• BizX: Innov-Dev, Innov-Staging, Innov-Prod

Bitwarden

Ensure you are added to the appropriate collection:

• ResX: Resident Experience collection
• BizX: Business First Stop collection

Accessibility

All engineers should install the WAVE extension for automated accessibility checks.
